Have some huge (75 mg) presentations - and it would be nice to e-mail them.
Especially when I had some crucial fixes while on the road.

Has anyone used Impatica to compress the files?

Thank you.

Last minute note, just saw in a previous post the advice of saving as a
..pps - powerpoint show.

Would that create a smaller file (not that it would impact a 75 mg
presentation)?

Thanks.

No, the file format of .PPT and .PPS is identical. The "S" just signals
that the file should be opened in Show mode.

I tested this with a 112mb presentation on a 2gh machine with 264 mb of
memory. It was very slow...and I was not successful getting it to work.
It is a java based application, and it is possible that on a 1gh G4 it might
work better since most macs have more memory than my machine at work here.
I will test this on my g4 450 machine when I get home tonite, but my
experience is that when coding java it seems to run pretty much at the same
speed on either platform.

Pat,
I wonder if there is a reason for your presentation being this large. I mean
if it is hundreds of slides, it might be that big, but otherwise, I am
thinking that you have a really good case of file bloat. I would check out
the following PPT FAQ links and see if any of the tips help:
Do this before using PowerPoint seriously

(especially note the part about turning off fast saves and re-saving under a
new name)

Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?

Let us know if this helps any.... It may not take your file down to a size
where it can be emailed, but these tricks might help some.

You might want to try NXPowerLite at this site.

I have used it and it is very good and very quick. You can download a
fully functional trial version for testing and see if you like what it
does. Cost is $ 30 USD which isn't so bad if you like it.

Good luck
