Used Mp3 player

My friend gave me a used Mp3 player with no software disk. It has no brand
name on it, so I can't download the software I need to load it with songs.
Is there some sort of universal software or something I can use to solve this
problem.

You can plug it in to a USB socket then take note of what XP finds - brand
name and maybe model number. THEN you can download the software. Or if its a
generic player perhaps using WMP you can copy/paste songs on to it.
