I purchased a computer from a school. It has windows
2000 professional, which is not useable since the
computer was networked and I do not have a password. If I
purchase windows 2000 how do I install over the existing
OS? Can I install windows 98 over the W2000 Pro if I
find W 98 cheaper (this is my 16 yo daughter's money and
computer).

The computer is an amd with 64 RAm otherwise I would try
Windows XP which I am familiar with ( I know nothing
about Win 2000)

She is anxious to be able to use the computer-please
advise about best to purchase- Win 98 or Win 2000. Also,
she is a student and we homeschool. Anyone know of a
cheaper way to purchase the software for educational use?

You cannot install an older windows over a newer one. You
will have to remove the win2K before you can install win98.
