My old PC died and I want to install Update XP Home Edition
on it. Will I be able to register it?

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are _not_ transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

your question doesnt make since really, your PC died and
now u want to install XP on it??

any way the answer is no, u must purchase a new
licence/copy of XP to install on every computer.

You are incorrect. A retail version of XP can be transferred from machine
to macbine as often as you like. You are merely required to remove it from
any previous mcahines first, and if less then 120 days, would need to
activate by phone to explain the situtation.

An OEM version is tied to the first machine it's installed on however.
