Use Word or Excel?

I am not sure which program (or how) to use.

Here is an example of what I am thinking of doing.

For instance, if I am a teacher, and I have 10 students.

For homework #1, I want them each to write a short story.
I want to group the stories by each student's name.
But I want to be able to just see the students name, then expand and
see the story.

I know you can do something like this in Excel.
If you group the rows, you can click it, then you see only the first
row.
If you click it again, then you see all the rows again.

But the Excel cells are too small for the story.
The story can fit, but the cell would "look" weird.

Any ideas?
Can you do something like this in Word?

Thanks

Hi there,

I would strongly urge you to only ever use Word or similar word processing
package for documents. Excel is a spreadsheet package and is not suitable
for what you have in mind. It will only bring you pain.

However, a similar thing to what you envision might be achieved by using
outline view in Word. Check out this link:

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/UsingOLView.htm

This article details how to use outline view (and what it means). The
understanding styles articles referenced in this doc. is also really good to
read so that you can effectively use word. You could use heading 1 style for
each student's name and have their stories written in body text, this will
allow you to expand and compress the list as you have in mind. The above
link is on the MVP FAQ page, where there are really good articles on all
sorts of ways to use Word really effectively.

Shana Kelly's excellent article on styles is also a really good reference.
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/TipsOnStyles.html and will help you to
set up your styles properly so that you can in turn use the outline view to
the best effect.

I guess the better way is using Access.....
You can try this way:
Use one column for each student, and place the stories in a txt file in
a folder.
Under each student you can add a link (Insert > Hyperlink) that points
to the file....
