We have been trying to use our Central Calendar from off-site retreat
locations for many years. We have tried many things. The most recent
semi-useful method was that we made a copy of the calendar on a laptop and
were able to atleast see what was already there. Of course, I had to
hand-write any additions and enter them later because the copy was just that,
a copy. We would like to be able to create a file that can either be linked
or merged with our Central Calendar so that we can enter them from off-site.
Please shed some light on this subject and offer some ideas. We would be
most greatful.

You might want to explain what you mean by "our central calendar" and what version of Outlook you're using.

We use Outlook 2003. Our "Central Calendar" is what holds the Center's
programs (public programs, special events, weddings, etc.). It's located on
the Center's server on-site (in a shared file). We need to access this
calendar from off-site. We tried using my Outlook ID from our remote email
access (online), this gives us only a view of my personal calendar, not the
shared "Central Calendar". Then we copied it, and we were able to see it,
but we can't make any additions that will transfer back to the server.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

A shared file? What kind of file? Since Outlook has no such native file-sharing capability, I can only guess that you're using a third-party tool. If so, you probably should be asking the maker of that tool about offsite access.
