use pc as telephone

By the way, Eli, I think your clock is set incorrectly. Please check both
the time and the time zone. Your initial post here has apparently been made
in the future!

If you do find something you like for this purpose, get a full headset and
don't use your speakers. The person on the other end will hear echos of
their own voice when they talk, and it's very disconcerting and annoying.
It works fine if you disconnect or turn off your speakers and use the full
headset with mic.

Btw, as someone aready mentioned, your modem CD should have something
on it for this ... take a look.
 
Some computers may not be able to do that.

I have modem that supposed to do that. But it does not. Even with
the software installed.

is it possible to use the sound card and microphone as a telephone?
i DON"T mean an internet phone or a pc-to-phone.
i want to use the modem and the regular phone line that my pc is connected
to and to speak into the microphone, hear the other person from the speakers
and be able to answer phone calls with the computer.
is there a third party free app that can do that?
