I'm not real savvy w/computers so please don't think I'm an idiot...okay,
here's the deal. I was recently given a program from a friend, she copied it
to a DVD and it says it is burned in an ISO format. When I first used the
DVD I put it in my computer and it created another drive (F) which I assumed
it stored on my hard drive. Everything worked fine for a couple of weeks
until I updated a firewall ( not sure if that has anything to do w/it or not
). So, ever since then it hasn't worked. I tried making it work again and,
no such luck. I downloaded something called "unidisker" or something like
that and it let me actually open the DVD and view the files it contained but
I still can't get it to store on my hard drive again. I'd greatly appreciate
it if anyone could help/offer me some advice. Thanks!!!

Sounds like a very strange arrangement to me. Here's why:

An ISO file is an image of a DVD or CD. Usually, if it's copied to removable
media as an ISO file it's for transferring/transportation purposes only.

Your friend could have simply created a new DVD (or CD) from the ISO image and
given that to you to use in a normal manner.

In the situation that you had, I would have copied the ISO image from the DVD to
my HDD. I could then mount the ISO image in a virtual drive on my system.
There's no need to have the DVD media in your DVD drive after that.

In your case, it appears that you somehow mounted the ISO image while it was
still in the DVD drive on DVD media, which is, as I said, a strange arrangement.

You need to tell us about the virtual drive software that's being used on your
system. Some that I have used are made by Daemon, Gizmo, and Nero.

You also have to tell us whether the ISO file is an image of a DVD or a CD,
since some virtual drives are limited to CDs only.
