Use of Offline files

I have a small home network using two Win2K computers & MS Office W2K Pro.
One is a laptop. I want to use a 40gb harddisk attached to a network file
server appliance (Linksys) for shared files - specifically "My Documents". I
need, either some specific assistance (step-by-step instructions) or some
suggestions of places to go look or books to buy that will give me the very
basic instructions of how to set up the use of the network drive to hold the
"My Documents" folder for common use and also how to set up the "Offline
Use" of the information in that folder.
