I can't get Access open any database anymore.
We created a database with a password on it.
How can this be removed when the password has been forgotten.
Office or windows must store this information somewhere?

Thanks.

It sounds like you have joined a custom workgroup. Use the Workgroup
Administrator to re-join the default 'system.mdw' workgroup on your local
drive. Assuming it hasn't been modified then you should be OK.

Keith.

Hello Keith,

Thank you for answering on this issue.
Indeed I get a username and password pop-up.
I found the system.mdw in C:\programfiles\commonfiles\system directory.
But how do I use the Workgroup Administrator? In Access? or in windows?

Again many thanks

Henny

Hi Lynn,

Thank you for answering on this issue.
It's a user level password.
Through other users I found out about the "system.mdb" that should be
re-joined using workgroup administrator.
Do you know where I can find this, in Acces or windows.

Many thanks

Hi Keith,

I visited your website and saw the C:\winnt\system32\wrkgrpadm.exe command.
How is this called in Windows XP?

Thanks again

It depends on which version of Access you have. 2002 and later you
will find it imbedded in the Access user interface -- Tools >
Security > Workgroup Administrator. Do a search for wrkgrpadm.exe if
your version is earlier.

Lynn meant wrkgadm.exe

I found the executable in de microsoft office directory and created a new
account.
I have access again.
Thanks Joan and Lynn.

Best regards,

Henny
