Use Net 1 Time And Then No More

I had 98SE and had it updated to XP Pro with the update CD. Supposedly
a clean install. Ever since then, I can log onto the net 1 time and
then I get sign in server or server not found errors. If I reboot, I
can log on again only 1 time. This happens with MSN 9 and PeoplePC.
 
Are you using any outdated software?
I had a very old copy of Norton AV do this to me once.
 
The computer shop found that it was the accelorator that was causing the
problems. Once the uninstalled it, every thing worked fine. Upon reinstall,
the problems started again.
