Use my router to network my two machines together

Okay, I'm so newbie that other newbies giggle when I talk.
So keep that in mind when you read this.

I have a Linksys DSL Router. I've been using it just so
that my desktop computer and laptop docking station can
get to the Internet. It works great. I read in the Linksys
documentation that the router could also be used to
network the computers together. Wonderful. I bought
another desktop computer and hooked it up to the router.
Now all three computers can see the Internet. Fantastic.
BUT.. I want to share files between the two desktops. I
don't know how. Linksys documentation doesn't seem to
describe it. I tried just having the Network and Dial-Up
wizard do it, but it didn't seem very intuitive to me.

At the very least I'd like to share a folder from one
computer to the other. At the very most I'd like to see
the entire machine from the other machine.

Any help appreciated.

Put all computers in the same workgroup, load File- and Printersharing, make
sure all useraccounts exist on all W2K/XP's.

Sorry to be so dense, I'll learn as I go, but could you be
a little more exlicit?
Put all computers in the same workgroup.
How do I do that?
load File- and Printersharing
I think I know how to do this. Do I need to worry about
how this will effect the ability of people on the Internet
being able to see what I'm sharing?
make sure all useraccounts exist on all W2K/XP's.
I need a little help here too.

right click "My computer" and click properties. click
computer name...click "change" put the computer in a
workgroup. SAME NAME for all machines

No. your router also acts as a firewall to your internal
network from the outside
I need a little help here too.
right click "MY COMPUTER" and click "Manage" click
the "+" next to system tools...and the "+" next to local
users and groups. click users... in the right
pane...right click and then click new user. follow the
wizard and do this on all machines.
