Use installed memory first

Is there a sure way to set your computer to use installed memory before
using the page file on the hard drive in XP?

Thank you,
David

Isn't XP supposed to use the RAM in preference to the pagefile? I have read
of times where this is not the case, but those are rare.

My vote is Ram before drive.

It already works that way, and there's nothing to set.

What makes you think otherwise? Be sure you are not confusing page
file *allocation* with page file use. Windows *does* allocate page
file space in anticipation of possibly needing to use it, but that's
very different from page file use. That pre-allocation saves you time
if it turns out that it needs to use it, but costs you next to nothing
if you don't need it.
