I have a user running Windows XP, Office '03 with IE 6 SP2. He's having
problems with the Use Automatic Configuration Script field always being
populated and the Proxy Settings boxes being grayed out.
I went into the MMC (Start-Run-MMC-Context-Add/Remove Snap-in), created a
local policy and set the 'Disable changing Automatic Configuration settings'
to Enable and 'Disable changing proxy settings' to Disable. Under \User
Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer.
He then unchecks the Automatic Script box and checks the proxy settings
boxes, but when he exits and goes back into the LAN settings area
(Tools-Internet Options-Connections), the Automatic Configuration Script box
is populated again with HTTP:\\local host: ..../proxy.pac, while the Proxy
settings are unchecked.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Wes
