I have a user running Windows XP, Office '03, IE 6 SP2. He's getting "Page
Cannot Be Displayed" trying to access the internet. Under Tools-Internet
Options-Connections-LAN settings, his Automatic Configuration Script box is
checked & populated with HTTP:\\local host: ..../proxy.pac. The Proxy
Settings boxes are unchecked & grayed out.
I went into the MMC (Start-Run-MMC-Context-Add/Remove Snap-in), created a
local policy and set the 'Disable changing Automatic Configuration settings'
to Disable and 'Disable changing proxy settings' to Disable. Under \User
Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer.
The user was then able to uncheck and clear the Automatic Configuration box,
check the Proxy Settings boxes, fill in the address & port & the exceptions
area under the advanced icon. When he exited IE and reopened the the
Automatic Script box was checked & filled again and the proxy settings were
unchecked.
Any ideas on this one?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Wes
