I d'nt find a manual config for proxy setings. Could be
usefull?

If you are behind a proxy which ask you a loging & pass
(usual on campus or company network), manual updates work
fine as you are here to answer the proxy question.

With automatic update, you are supposed to be elsewhere.
Do you think there could be a feature in which you can
put the answer and let MSAS do the job (with a protection
which dont make it to easy to use your name).

Yes--I think this is a flaw in the current setup. If your proxy can be
defined in IE's standard settings, including the automatic configuration
setting, it is supposed to work. Otherwise, there seems to be no mechanism.

I think IE is properly configured as when I try a manual update it asked me
logging & password but I must answer manually. I don't see anywhere an
option allowing automatic answer to a proxy (except MS proxy in some
specific cases).

My suggestion is a config item (in a future version) as can be found in some
products (I think Norton has a feature like that) in order to allow
unattended updates.

Thanks - I hope that Microsoft is aware of this situation. I'm not clear
whether there is a standard involved in this mechanism--i.e. the proxy
credentials request and responses. If these are not standards-based, I
wouldn't expect Microsoft to accomodate it.
