Hi there.I have just purchased a HP photosmartc4180 to replace my old printer. When I tried to install the software it had an error saying that usbprint.inf was missing or the wrong version. I went to the hp website and followed their instructions to fix it which involved copyiny it and pasting it into the inf directory in windows, to no avail. Can anyone help me please. i run Windows xp on a 2600 amd athlon.

Please help

Thanks

Andrew

Hiya mate just a quick suggestion before I got to bed..

Unplug the printer, Uninstall any software you have installed for it.

Reboot the computer, Install the new drivers from the website.

Reboot the computer and insert USB cable

Sorry need to go bed someone else will try again soon if that dont work :)

Oh welcome to our little corner of the web ;)

Thanks mate, but there is nothing installed. i looked in the add remove programs and there is nothing there. Also the printer isn't connected when you load the software. You actually have to wait for a prompt during the loading to connect it.But I have never gotten that far. Any other ideas?
