USB2 problems

Untitled DocumentHi all,

I am unable to scandisk, format or read my external hd on xp pro sp1.
I had to prepare/load disk on one of the ide busses and it works fine until
I move it outboard.
The files are visible through explorer but when I try to read them, the
message " the drive needs to be formatted before use" appears.

Should I delete all of the usb drivers and start from scratch?

It may have the wrong information in the __system volume
information__file.
