Hello,
It appears as if there is a problem with USB2.0 storage devices in winxp I
have two hard drives that no longer work in xp I have went through all
possible troubleshooting that there is it seems as if though it is a windows
problem probably the 137GB Barrier still not 100% sound with USB2.0 storage?
I had one running a 250GB where I had all my pvr'd movies on it it took a
crap after a windows update...
I have heard everything from everyone like heres one:
" Microsoft has a new anti-piracy feature if you have pvr'd movies on your
hard drive then microsoft marks your bios and it fubars your hdd until you
reflash your bios "
Now I know that cant be true because M$ would be facing a very critical
lawsuit I doubt they would be that foolish there is no rule against PVR'n
movies it is totally leagal weather you pvr it on a PC or you PVR it on a PVR
unit theres no law against it providing that you are not soliciting the
movies for market or financial gains and it is for personal use according to
the laws of fair use.
Now I really wonder what is the true problem with USB MASS STORAGE in
windows xp I had one running just fine untill I did an SP2 update some
security patch then I went out and I bought a new one the other day and it
will not work what is so ever....
It is obvious that this is a critical issue as I know of four other online
people that I chat with and I dont chat with many who also say they have
fubar'd hdds since the update .
Looks like MS did a splendid job on beefin up security but... They seem to
be lacking in the compatibility region of SP2 in particular with large USB2.0
drives.
ANY HELP IS WELCOMED
