capture device (new) wont work. both are listed in the
usb port as unknown usb devices.i redone it 10 times but
it will not recognize either one. help please ! thank
you for knowing this stuff and helping people you dont
know. you're a good person.

try installing printer and video capture, before
connecting to pc, see if that helps. if not, then try get
a several piont USB adapter and connect it to one USB
port you know works, then try again. or for better help,
go see the people you got the printer and vid capt from
and ask them to help.....good luck

vids and printers -- bet they want USB 2, and you have
usb 1

most likely "number one problem" - your device needs a
USB 2 and you're giving it USB 1. Thus, usb 2 device is
looking at a usb 1 port and not seeing the USB 2 driver
it needs, and being logical, it says I can't find what I
need. Same size hole, etc, different amount of data and
definitely a different driver.

number 2 - check the cable - USB 2 is usually a fairly
thick cable, and usb 1 is/was a fairly thin cable. Use
USB 2 cable to handle USB 2 or 1, USB 1 cable to handle
USB 1. Wrong cable screws up the signal

answer - pony up the $10-20 for a USB 2 card. (front-
mounted-port type work best)
