Folks,

How can I determine which version my USB ports are (1.0, 1.1,
2.0, or whatever)?

If I need to go from 1 to 2, how do I do that? Is it new
hardware or a new driver?

Thanks for listening.

it is a hardware/firmware upgrade, usually a new PCI card.
There are combo cards with Firewire and USB 2.0.

You will also need SP1 to get full USB 2.0 support.

Please see "How do I know if my PC has USB 2.0?"
http://www.everythingusb.com/usb2/faq.htm

If you dont have USB2.0 and you want it, you need to
purchase a USB2.0 PCI card.

Thanks very much fellas. Wow! You guys are fast.

My USB Root Hub says "Standard USB Controller" and the device
is Intel 82801BA/BAM Universal Host Controller. Nothing here
says "Enhanced", so I guess I am at version 1 and not 2.

Maybe Santa can bring me a new PCI card :)

The correct answer is to look in your manual and see if you have
USB2.0. If you do then you need to install the USB2.0 drivers from SP1.
If you don't then USB2.0 will not show up under Device Manager. Most
computers less than a year old have USB2.0. :-)
