After upgrading from windows 2000 to xp pro anything I plug into my usb comes
up as a unknown device. I've put all the updates including service pack 2 on.
I have a hp printer and tried the software for manually load it and that
doesn't work. I've also tried my digital camera and usb mouse. I've tried
uninstalling the usb and rebooting and then plugging in my device. When I
manually install my printer off the disk I select usb001 and then go through
the whole process. It tries to print a test page at the end and I get a
printer error that says the document can't print. Please Help

In the Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus Controllers>right click and update
the drivers..

Mostly with USB devices, you need to install their software first and restart the
system then plug the device in. (that's how it was with my USB camera, Printer
and Intellimouse). Install the software/drivers, restart, plug in device.

Still much easier than the old "plug and play" of Windows 95 days.
