USB unknown error

Have problem transferring pics from my camera through the
USB port with XP. It works fine on Win98. XP does not
sense the connection and install drivers. Reports the
camera as malfunctioned USB device. The camera support
people are stumped. We have tried the wizards, booting in
safe mode, manual install, etc.
The USB host and root hub are showing in device manager.
 
Please let me know is you find a solution. I had the same problem with my Motorola A925 phone. It connected once but now gives the same error as your camera, even after reinstalling the software countless times.
 
Ditto for me using an IPAQ. Device Manager says the USB
ports are open and working. According to XP the device is
malfunctioning. No other USB devices work as well. IPAQ
will sync up using serial port. Please help.
