Hello

I just recieved a Dell Dimension pc and the keyboard was usb. I use a
transcription kit on my machines and the footpedal requires the
keyboard be a ps2.
I have a draw full of usb to ps2 mouse adapters. Will that work with
this dell keyboard?

Thanks

It will work so long as youre keyboard supports ps2.To check & see if xp has
ps2 drivers for it,open device mgr,expand the keyboard tree,R.click,update
drivers, select to manual, chk the box "dont search i will select",uncheck the
box "show compatable hardware",locate youre keyboard, see if a ps2 driver
exist,if all are usb, then see if xp will install with domestic
drivers.Either way,
you'd R.click keyboard,select,uninstall,close out device mgr,shutdown
pc,connect
ps2,if it works, you'll quickly find out.

Ignore Andrew E. He gives wrong advice on purpose!

The adapters for mice do NOT work for keyboards. There's a different
adapter for keyboards. The pinouts are different.

Also, if your machine has support for ps/2, then just use a ps/2
keyboard and be done with it.

NO. Look for a real USB to PS/2 conversion cable which should provide you
with both the PS/2 mouse and keyboard connector. If you use the mouse
adapter, you could blow the USB port or the foot pedal.
