USB to Parallel Converter not properly handled

When I plug in my USB to Parallel Converter I need it to provide a *parallel
port*, since it is needed for a non-printing application. XP installs it as
"USB printing support", which I cannot use.

Any clues? Is there a way to get this feedback to Microsoft without having
to pay for it?

TIA
Jim

It seems a bit silly to me to try to modify an application to program PIC
processors to try to pretend it's talking to a printer.
