I am experiencing some problems with my Apacer USB Thumb drive . When I plug
the unit into my PC, it works fine for anything up to an hour or so and then
the drive just disappears, and I have to reboot. After rebooting, the drive
works fine once again for a period of time. The hardware is an Asus A7NBX
motherboard and I am running Windows 2000 service Pack 4.

Hi Keevill,

Try hot plugging the USB Thumb drive. The USB chipsets used in some
computers have an issue where the USB cable must be hot plugged in order to
restore USB communication.

If issue is cleared, disable power management on the USB hub.
a) Click Start, then right-click My Computer.
b) Click Properties and click the Hardware tab.
c) Click the Device Manager button.
d) Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers.
e) Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
f) Click the Power Management tab.
f) De-select the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
check box.
g) Click OK and close Device Manager.

Let me know if it works out, or we can try other things.
