I have a USB Linksys 32 MB removable storage device. When
I insert it into the USB port, XP recognizes it, but it is
not listed under my computer. It is in device manager and
there is no warnings or erros there. It also prompts
the "remove media safely" icon in the taskbar. Does
anyone have any suggestions. Do I need a service running
that is currently not? Thanks.

Janus check that you do not have a network drive assigned
after your last hard drive / cd rom drive. I have a C and
D hard drive and an E cd-rom drive. I plug in my multi
card reader and I can see it in Device manager but not in
explorer. The reason is that XP allows me to have network
mapped drives from F onwards but also assigns the card
reader drives to F, G, H and I. Once I disconnected the
network drives and re-connected them above I each time I
plug in my reader I can see the drives and contents in
explorer.

To check what drive letter is being assigned to your USB
removable drive plug it in and in Device Manager select
properties for that drive under Disk Drives then select
the Volumes tab. Click on Populate and it will read the
drive and confirm its size etc but will also tell you
which drive letter is allocated in the bottom box next to
the drive name then make sure you do not have another
drive already assigned to it - if so change it.

Hope this helps
