Hi!
System: Windows XP Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Notebook with
Intel Pentium 1.7

Someone installed a Usb device storage, but i don't know how it was
removed. The fact is that it still exists on my system and every time I
try to remove it, the system waits for a physical removal.
I've tried to remove it starting windows in safety mode, but it always
comes back!

Best regards

After turning off the notebook, physically remove the USB device.
Its icon, if this is what is meant here, should no longer be seen.
If the icon remains present, one technique would be to re-install
the USB drivers by uninstalling them in Device Manager, re-start
the notebook and then have XP continue with re-installation.

If the question is asking whether or not the USB device is ejected
automatically, the answer is no. It must be manually removed.

I don't know who installed the device, and what device it was. It is no
longuer attached to any of my usb ports, but it still exists on my
device manager.
If i try to remove it on the windows task bar, windows asks me to
remove it phisicaly. But how, if it is not there?!!!

I removed all my usb controllers and drivers, but after rebooting,
windows did the reinstalation of those controllers and drivers, and ...
also of the "Generic Flash R/W V1.81 USB Device". Voilá, the "thing"
returned to the usual places.

Delete the flash drive from Disk Management. This action should
remove its enumerator. If fail, then editing the Windows Registry
would be the next step.

Yes, i have already deleted it! But it returns back.
Do you know how to remove it with regedit?
