I had the same problem, and manage to resolve it. Although not with a Lexar external drive
First off, you did not mention your environment. You have admin rights I presume
Or else you would not have been able to change the drive letter through Dick Mannagement. Ok
What other computers can you connect the drive to? It is possible that you need a specific driver for X
to recognise the drive. I guess you must be using the default generic M$ USB driver
My problem was that the letter assigned to the drive before using it in the caddy, was e drive, the same as my path to a network drive. Hence drive is detected but not accessible. Disconnect the network drive and it remains, except now it show the external drive's contents. Solution: change the drive letter of either the path of network drive or the external drive's letter. The trick is you need to have admin rights. If you swap between different environments with different user levels the disk reverts to the one it knows about as seen through the registry. As a result my external drive is E: at work, where I do not have admin rights and any letter I choose to have at home. Your mileage may vary, because it can still be a driver issue
So with this rather longwinded explanation, hope to have been of some help

Hey
I had the same problem.
I followed your suggestion, but it still did not appear.
My hard disk is a brand new western 160 GB, and I am
using a USB drawer. I had no problem with regular USB
hard disk
Any idea
