Someone asked me to fill up his USB stick with some files. I was asked to
wipe the stick beforehand. However, after deleting all contents the stick
still seemed to contain much data. (USB stick properties: still about 25%
used).
The settings for hidden and system files in Windows (2000) explorer are set
to visible, but there are no files visible. What's going on here? Do I have
to format the stick? If so, what format?

If the USB stick will be used only on Win2k, XP or Vista
you might was well format it as NTFS.

If you are not sure about what machines it will be used on...use FAT32 as
most any OS can read fat32
