usb stick puzzle

Observer

I have a 128nb USB memory stick. I get the following problem:

Copy files to stick in Desktop machine.

Check that they've copied.

Put stick in laptop to transfer.

No files show!

Format memory stick

Some files remain, says "In use"

???????


Anyone got a solution?

PS Both machines use Win XP with NTFS file system

No, but have just realized that because I partitioned my main HDD into 3
drives and have an extra disk with 2 partitions from my previous machine, I
now have drives up to J: I was putting the transfer files onto this drive
but stupidly didn't realise that the USB drive was L:!

Panic over (for now!)
