USB "Standard"

I don't have any fancy extra USB devices for my computer, but my niece
and nephew have all of them. They sometimes come over to visit.

My nephew has an Ipod. He forgets his adapter sometimes. My niece
has a phone that will take pictures, and she also has a camera. Is
there some kind of USB cable I can get to be able to interface with
these things?

USB is supposed to be the "standard" but apparently that is only for
one end. How many different types of USB connections are there?

This article covers the connector options.

That is more than I wanted to know. :)
Anyone aware of a good supplier of a universal adapter for my
Universal Serial Bus?

A USB octopus that will work with any USB device?

Probably most online merchants,
newegg.com or similar.

I have looked for USB adapters, but I don't know what you would call
the one I am looking for.

Thanks

I guess that would be called "an adapter that fits my nephew's iPod
and my niece's phone/camera". The exact device depends on the
connectors you need.

The search criteria "USB adapter" might be correct.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186017

"SYBA CL-USB-5EN1 5-in-1 USB Adapter"

That one might require a female to female USB extension cord.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812149114

"PPA-USA 3329 Multi-Connector Universal Travel Pack"

I recall seeing something like that locally too.

I had Googled for the phone to find out what kind of USB it was, but
the instructions don't say.

I will have to check her camera as I have no clue, but I am hoping the
phone and camera will use the same type. I will have to check.

If the adapter is 5 in 1, I am hoping that fits everything from
reading the Wiki list.

Thanks

I remember seeing a GE-branded USB "kit" covering a huge bunch of
connector combinations. It was at BigLots. I'll cruise past and see if
this does what the OP wants.

Man this Usenet is great. Not only do you get great, free advice, you
can get people to do your shopping for you.

Thanks. :)

I called WalMart looking for one. I was hoping that the camera and
phone, at least, would use the same kind of adapter. The guy at
WalMart didn't find an adapter, but he did verify that the cameras
they have used at least two different kinds of plugs.

I am calling them 5 in 1 USB adapters until I find a more appropriate
name.
