I have a device that has a serial connector for connecting to my PC, XP
SP2. Is there a simple way to connect this to a USB port, since my PC does
not have a serial port? I have a basic USB-Serial cable, but I seem to need
some sort of a driver for this. Any help, especially freeware, would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Al

You need the drivers for the USB-Serial adapter. Go to the manufacturers web
site and see if they are there. Otherwise buy a new adapter with drivers.

They normally come with a driver. Perhaps you've misplaced it.

If it has a brand name, go to the brand's support site and downoad the
driver.

You need the driver for the device. Search the web and you should be able
to find a downloadable driver.

Alternately, get a new adapter; they aren't expensive.
