Hi.

This USB Mustek Flatbed scanner (1200 UB Plus) worked fine on my previous XP
PC. Loaded latest XP drivers, installs correctly, interface icon appears in
tray, but does not open. Nor does the interface open in any scanning
application I run. I have reinstalled it multiple times. Any ideas? Could
the fact that the scanner is a USB 1 type, and the ports are USB 2 have
anything to do with it? Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Henry.

My HP scanner is USB1 and works fine with this mobo.

Are you using it via a USB hub, or direct? My Dymo label writer won't work
via a hub, but is OK direct.

Are you using the rear panel USB connectors? Or the ones on the
motherboard? Try both.

USB2.0 is fully backwards compatible (in terms of the controller and in most
cases, the device), so there should not be a problem there.

The ones on the motherboard(bracket)are the same as on the backplate.

Well actually they have a separate hub, and people have reported problems
with USB2 on one, but not the other, which would lead me to believe that
they are not exactly the same.

Thank you all for your input. I've tried all ports. I am fairly certain at
this stage that the problem is in the installation of the drivers. The
Mustek instructions on the correct installation procedure do not seem to be
consistent with the downloadable driver files. I will work on this further
in the next couple of days. I don't think it's a motherboard problem. What
made me suspect it in the first place was that I had the scanner running OK
on my previous PC, also Windows XP.

Thanks again.
