Can anyone please help me with an on-going issue regarding
my usb. When I plug in my digital camera it should come
up as a removeable device but instead my system doesn't
recognize the usb device giving a code 10. I had
installed the drivers that came on CD with the device but
it doesn't appear to make any difference.

I can only access this information after I have rebooted
with the device attached. If I plug the device in while
windows is running, my cpu usage rises to %100 and my
system freezes. Unplugging the device does not free the
cpu usage either. A reboot is always required. Previous
to this, my system would sometimes auto reboot whenever I
plugged in a usb device.

Anyone got any ideas Please?? I know I am female but I am
relatively IT literate with pc's!

Thanks
Pepsi

Code 10 means that the device driver fails to initialize.
First of all, try another USB cable, if possible - new and USB 2.0 compatible.
Check that you have updated USB drivers for your machine.
If USB on your machine is ok (other USB devices work on it) call tech support of your camera.

Thanks PA for the advice. I have tried a new cable but it
still doesn't work. As for the usb drivers! Well I have
an ECS P4ITA motherboard made by Winbond. Intel i850
chipset number: W83627 and I have searched the net over
trying to find updated drivers for it!! I have updated the
i850 chipset drivers but I cant find drivers for the usb.
As for other usb devices, as I said in my previous post,
sometimes they work, sometimes they reboot my pc when
connected. To say this is driving me insane, is an
understatement!!

This is definately a fault on my machine and not with the
camera manufacturer. If you have any other ideas they
would be much appreciated.

Thanks again
Pepsi ( A female who knows she is) ;o)
