It seems I cannot get any usb 2.0 device to work with my
2003 sony vaio laptop - running windows xp home ed.

here's what I have tried:

a) Maxtor external hard drive, 2.0 but compatible with
1.1

b) Sandisk 256 nini cruzer flash memory stick

c) TDK external 1.44 floppy drive, usb 2.0 but backward
compatible

d) Zonet PC card for adding two USB 2.0 ports

everytime I get the automatic installer wizard asking
where the driver is located...and yet the documentation
that comes with each device says no additional drivers
are needed with windows xp.

sound familiar to anyone? any ideas?
I already am running windows xp sp1 update.

thanks, Tara

Plug your Zonenet PC card in and then do the SP1 update
again.

i could try that. but I have SP1, and it is no longer
available for download. and microsoft does not recommend
installing SP1a if you already have SP1.

and I forgot to clarify, in case anyone is wondering...I
have tried putting the usb 2.0 devices into both the
original internal 1.1 ports and the pc card's 2.0 ports,
with no success.
