USB problems

I recently updated from Windows XP Home Edition to
Professional Edition. Before updating, my plug and play
USB devices all worked anytime I unplugged or plugged
them. Since updating, my computer no longer detects a
newly plugged in USB device. For it to recognize a new
device, I have to restart. I've tried the "Scan for new
hardware" in the device manager and it doesn't work. I'm
pretty sure that XP Professional updated my USB driver,
but is there any way I can roll them back to pre-
installation standards? When I try to roll them back in
the device manager it doesn't work. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
