Hello,

I'm currently having an issue with our clients not being able to install
printers or print through usb. We purchased HP4250 Laser Jet printers, and we
gave the clients rights to add and configure printers. Our clients are
assigned CF73 & CF74 Panasonic toughbooks. They do not have admin rights. We
are a Sheriffs Office agency with about 700 clients.

USB / DOT4 has not helped us at all. It works great for home users.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

First, unplug all the connectors, both electrical and USB. Then, start
Vista, plug in the printer's electrical cord, and then the USB cable (which
should already be plugged into the computer. At this point, you should get a
"new hardware found" notice, and just follow the yellow brick road, feeding
it the CD that came with the printers.

Hope this helps. I had the dickens of a time installing my HP 9650 until I
happened on this order.

Why would you use a Beta version OS on a business network.
There are too many bugs to even try that. Maybe this time next year I might
try it. You should go back to XP for now.
