USB printers don't print after XP is running for more than 8 hours?

I've run across this twice now and don't have any ideas.
On two different XP systems, one Pro, one Home, one has an
HP printer, one a Lexmark, both USB. If the computer has
been running continuously for ore than 8 hours, the
printers won't print! The only solution I have found was
to not only reboot, but I also had to shut off the power
completely, then reboot and both printers were recognized,
printed fine and kept printing until they ran for a long
time, then the same problem recurred. Does anyone have any
suggestions for this? Thanks.

Look in the Device Manager under the USB Controllers. By default a USB port
is set to go into standby after a certain amount of idle time. You can use
the Power Management tab and tell them never to do this.
