usb ports

How to I get my usb ports to work? I used to be able to
plug in a device such as a digital photo card reader and
it would automatically bring up some choices. Now
nothing comes up, even when putting in a dvd or cd. Any
solutions?
 
Have the same problem. Plugged in a digtial camera and receive the removeable disk message like I should. Made the camera my E drive. Now when I plug the camera into the USB port, I get nothing. No errror, no message, no drive, nothing.. any suggestions?

Same here guys.....i bought some new hardware (board, CPU
and new memory) and also needed a new hard drive since my
old one crashed.... so, everything set up ok, install
SAME copy of XP and now all of a sudden my USB pen drive
is dead, nothing. all the ports work fine with gamepads,
printers (neon lights!!!) etc but not the pen drive,
which is most important since has all my work!!!

Any guys with any ideas for us poor souls???
