First off I want to thank all that replyed to my last post about drivers
disk!
I think I got all the drivers in right. Now I have a new problem. I have a
USB scanner and a battery backup.
I installed the backup and it keeps saying to connect it when I boot the
machine! I can unplug the usb cable
and reconnect it and it picks it up. Then when I reboot it's right back to
the same message. The scanner I can't
even get to install right. The instructions say to install the software and
drivers then connect the scanner. The system
must see it but a message comes up saying something about a bad service or
something! Then says I can't install it.
Both the Battery backup and Scanner worked just fine on my old XP-SP1
system. I saw on a webpage somewhere
that this would happen if the USB was shareing a IRQ with something else (I
can't find that site again now to see if there
was a fix) anyway I checked and my ATI 9800 card and my USB share IRQ 16
could this be my problem?
Or do I have bad USB ports? I checked in device manager and the scanner has
a yellow exclamation mark but the
battery backup dosn't. Also all the USB stuff say they are working fine. The
troubleshooter is no help at all!!!
I tryed to uninstall the USB ports and the ATI card but they just keep
takeing the same IRQ each time. And
there is no option to change them in device manager.
Thanks for any help on this.
