Hi,-----Original Message-----
I have an AMD Athlon 2100Xp machine running Windows XP. I
have two USB ports and was running a Canon Scanner off one
of them.
The scanner is no longer working, I received messages
saying the TWAIN driver was not installed. I have also
noticed that the USB Ports do not appear in the Device
Manager and I feel this is the likely cause of my problems.
How can I get the machine to recognise the USB Ports again?
Thanks
.
You need to go to the control panel and select the system
icon. Its the one that looks like a computer. Then click
the hardware tab and click device manager. Highlight your
computer at the very top of the tree and right click and
scan for hardware changes. At this point your usb ports
should be detected. If for any reason they are not I
would download the startup disk creation file and create
a set of startup floppy disks. Then you can use them to
start the system and follow all the prompts as if you
were to be installing windows xp as new. Then it will
scan for any existing copies of windows xp and at that
point is where you select to perform windows repair. This
will scan all your hardware and reinstall better said
repair your existing copy of windows xp. To do this you
will have to have a windows xp disc and your registration
key code. Good luck. Hope this was of help to you.
