I tried to install a Sony Micro Vault on my computer and
it didn't recognize it. I tried to hook up my new Sony
DVD camcorder to my computer and that also did not work
even though I see the the Sony product on my Device
Manager. I called Sony and they say that it may be
because I had an upgrade version of XP and not the real
thing.

Now I tried to HotSync my Palm Pilot which I've done many
times before and this doesn't work now. What's the
problem? Can anyone help me?

BTW I agree with Bruce. It's enough to make you get an
Apple next time. Mir

Sony is clueless. Upgrade versions are exactly the same
except for the check on previous installed OS.

Open device manager and delete the USB devices, including
the hubs/ports.
Reboot and you should have everything back with the correct
drivers.

Be sure that any software supplied with a device, such as
the camera, is installed before you plug any device into the
USB port.

Be sure you have SP1 installed.

Jim, thanks for the reply but I'm a bit nervous about
deleting this. Do you mean I uninstall the the whole USB
controler plus the Intel(r) 82801 BA/BAM USB and the USB
Root Hub. Or do I just highlight and hit the delete key.
I'm not a pro, as you can tell. TIA

Yes, but if you are worried about it, start small.

Plug and play will detect the devices, all you are doing is
deleting the drivers. When you reboot they will reinstall.

Just don't use the disable in this profile because that can
cause problems, it isn't plug and play, and if you turned
something off. like your keyboard and mouse they won't be
reactivated be rebooting.

Jim I did just like you said and it work! Well at least
my PalmPilot was able to hotsync. I still can get the
computer to recognize my Sony Camcorder even though I
downloaded the software it came with. When I plug it into
my USB port nothing happens. Any suggestions? TIA.

Jim,

I did what you said and it worked for my Palm but I still
can't get my computer to recognize my camcorder. It's a
Sony DCR-DVD. Should I uninstall the software and start
over? Do I need to download a new driver? Any
suggestions? Thanks, mg
