XP should not require any setup, drivers, etc to use simple USB devices like
a pen drive. One windows explorer so you can see all hard drives and CD/DVd
drives lists by letter. Plug in the pen drive. In a few seconds XP should
say something about detecting new hardware, and in under 30 seconds the pn
drive should appear as a new hard disk. Test it by writing a small file to
the pen drive.

If XP detects the pen drive, but you can not write to it, perhaps the pen
drive is not formatted. Format it, just like you would a floppy, but select
FAT16 (or FAT32).

If XP detects the pen, but it does not appear in explorer, go to the disk
manager and "initialize" the disk, then format it also from the disk
manager:

By useing this news-group it would be assumed that your useing Win XP OS
(anyway !)

the problem I have is a usb 64mb unit

I presume to understand that you are referring to a 'USB Pen-Drive', such as
can be seen at link below;
http://tinyurl.com/u54v

is this correct?

which was given as
part of buying the full retail version of Windows office
professional but it give no instructions as to how to

What ! no instructions at all !, nothing on the packaging ?

What is the make/model (or any details) of the device ??????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

when i Put it on it tells me to turn of
the device manager

I don't think the 'Device Manager' can be 'turned off' (perhaps it said
'close Device Manager')

and all other programs to setup the
install but I do not knoww how to turn the device manager
of if this is what it requires?? please could you be so

Was thiere not any kind of Setup-disc with it?., or details of the
Manufacturer on the packaging?
