Hi, can anyone help me?
I have a external usb2 disk with a ntfs partition of 80 Gb. I can use
it with all the pc that use XP OS, but my win2k laptop and win2k homepc
don't recognize it.

It is a driver problem? It is a known issue?

I searched for a solution but I can't find something useful.

Thanks in advance

dunno. but i can think of a few rubbish workarounds to consider in the
mean time. if you have partition magifc then you could convrt it to
fat32. or upgrade those win2k comps to xp.

off topic, why buy usb when you can buy a usb-ide adaptor and use an
internal. it's cheaper in the long run (though it wouldn't solve or
workaroudn your prob)

Thanks
but i need ntfs for large file support (iso >4gb) and external usb
(with a 2.5' hard-drive) for easy files moving.

At last I think that I'll give up with ntfs and follow your suggestion.

Perhaps (due to some bug?) Win XP formatted NTFS is slightly different
to Win 2k formatted NTFS.

you could try formatting your USB drive as NTFS using your win2k
system.
That would guarantee that it'd be readable in win2k. It's hard to
imagine a scenario where you then put a file on it from Win XP and it
doesn't put the file on it or it messes it up! So I think that's a
perfect solution.

Also, regarding a usb-ide adaptor, you can get a 2.5"-3.5" ide adaptor
cable on ebay.
