Hi. I reformatted my computer with windows xp and i cannot
connect to the internet. i currently use comcast broadband
cable modem using a USB to connect to the internet. When
I try to unplug and plug my USB cable to my USB port on my
computer, my computer will not read the new hardware. I
don't see a message that pops up that says "new hardware
detected" or something. When I go to device manager,
under USB, I only see 2 things listed: Intel
(r)...something and USB Root Hub. Am I missing a USB
driver? When can I get it? The cable modem CD that came
with it does not have anything that would help. Any help
is appreciated!

Did you download Windows SP1 aftre you re-installed XP?...Is USB 2.0 on your
mobo or is it an ad-in PCI card? Do not look for any other USB2.0 drivers
anywhere as the XP drivers that come with SP1 are what you need. The key
here (and this has been replied to many times in the last few weeks) is you
want to see an 'enhanced' usb device in your hardware config, otherwise it
ain't usb2.0... Check these things and then come back if you don't solve
your problem with them..
