I have a Philips PSA232/17 MP3 player that I am trying to hook up to my
eMachines T2858 system running Windows XP. Problem is, when I plug it in,
Windows detects a MTP - Windows Portable Device but does not detect a flash
drive. I have called Philips and they said that it must also be detected as a
drive in explorer and recomended that I try it on another system. I did, and
it worked on two different systems (another eMachine similar to mine and a
Dell of unknow type both running XP) I have read many of the other posts and
have tried the following...
Upgrade XP to SP2 - still didn't work
Tried to update Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
(USB 2.0 to my understanding)
-Microsoft Upgrade said that the driver was current and did not need
updating
Tried to update USB Mass Storage Device
-Microsoft Upgrade said that the driver was current and did not need
updating
Unistalled all USB devices (controllers and hubs) and then plug in MP3 player
-System reinstalled all USB controllers and hubs and found MTP -
Windows Portable Device but still no drive.
Changed drive letters on CD/DVD drive and 4 mapped? card reader drives to
V,W,X,Y,and Z to remove potential conflict with flash drive.
-Same thinng, MTP - Windows Portable Device
I am complete baffled here. I want to just take this MP3 player back but
since it works on other systems I am not convinced that a different MP3
player would be any different.
Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks,
Justin
