that pretty much sums it up. My mouse works fine in linux, but as soon as
Vista boots the light goes out. As soon as I unplug it and plug it back in
its fine. It worked fine during the installation as well. This is a laptop,
never had a problem with it before.

Glad to hear it. I have had problems with a couple of usb devices and there
are plenty of bug reports about others. Mice, keyboards, external hard
drives, thumb drives and all manner of things. Some brands never glitch and
some do.

My mouse is a Logitech MX510 and my keyboard is a Logitech Elite keyboard.
Both are also compatible with PS/2.

I've got a Microsoft mouse (USB) that "pauses" for a split second when
scrolling across the screen. It does this three times while scrolling across
from left to right.

My Microsoft optical USB mouse "pauses" when scrolling across the screen.

Would this be part of the "usb issues" with Vista?

Fixed. My driver for my GeForce 5200FX card was causing my CPU usage to hold
steady between 19-25%. Updated the driver, Visita is now screaming along.!

Good deal.

Yikes ... same video card here ... just about to install, but am reading
through this NG first. Good heads up! thanks.

Be sure to run Setup from the XP desktop and choose Upgrade Advisor to get a
report on needed drivers before insalling Vista. It helps.

I had done that this afternoon ... and it didn't list my nvidia video card
(but did mention my integrated sound card and monitor). Having said that
.... I do keep my video card driver current. I just updated it a few days
ago ... so ... maybe it really is ok. I'll take a peak and see what they
(Nvidia) has for vista drivers, if they do indeed have any.

They do. Some of the sites don't show beta drivers unless you do a search
on "Vista" or "beta".

Don't know if it is a Vista issue or nVidia driver issue, but my video card
runs at 1/3 speed on Vista.

Sounds like the driver. Or at least the driver is greatly exacerbating the
yet unoptimized Vista code.
