usb mass storage device

i recently required an Ipod and attached it to my firewire port it work for 2 days and then all of a sudden when i plug it to my computer it does not even work. there is a fault with my usb mass storage device, a yellow icon is indicated next to it in the device manager. i've used troubleshooter and uninstall and reinstall but it is still not working it just says error code 47
Can anyone pls help me out thanx
