I have a USB keychain drive that in "Disk Management" shows as "unreadable",
yet if I take it to the office on XP Pro, or my XP Pro laptop, then it works
fine.

I've searched all over the internet, and have come upon no solution.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

I confess I've never seen that error before. Is that the only USB
drive you've used on that computer? Do you recall Vista saying
that it was installing drivers for the new hardware when you first
plugged it in?

My first resort is to go to Hardware Manager, delete the device and
watch closely while Vista re-detects the device when you plug it in.

Yeah, I have other USB flash drives that work in both XP Pro and Vista. It is
Vista Ultimate, though I don't think that would make a difference.

I just removed it from "Device Manager", then plugged it in. I got the
notification that it was installing the device, and went back into "Disk
Management" and it was still showing up as "unreadable".

To be specific, it is a 512MB "Small Business Accounting 2006" flash drive.

Thanks,
Matt
